Kids need to be equipped with truth of its sacredness through Catholic lens

MONTREAL – The re-introduction of sex education into Quebec schools goes against fundamental rights of parents, says the president of the Association of Catholic Parents of Quebec.

OTTAWA – The repeal of Ontario������Ƶapp controversial sex education curriculum by the new government has elicited reactions ranging from jubilation to gloom among Catholic education stakeholders.

In the wake of Ontario������Ƶapp new government repealing its sex education curriculum, students in Catholic school classrooms will continue to be taught in “a manner that that conveys, respects and models Catholic principles to our students, said the head of head of Ontario������Ƶapp Assembly of Catholic Bishops.

We were all lined up at our desks, blank forms at the ready an plenty of pens for St. Michael������Ƶapp parishioners to use.

TORONTO - The constituency offices of Ontario Liberal MPPs came under siege Sept. 2 as protesters opposed to the province's new sex-ed curriculum united to voice their displeasure with the program set to be taught in schools this year.

TORONTO - A motion calling for the province to delay implementation of Ontario's controversial new sex-ed curriculum in Toronto Catholic schools has been defeated.

TORONTO - The voice of parents must be heard, a determined group of parents upset with Ontario������Ƶapp new sex-ed curriculum has vowed.

They gathered again at Queen������Ƶapp Park, almost 2,000 of them, on June 7 to denounce Premier Kathleen Wynne������Ƶapp Liberal government for moving forward with the curriculum.

TORONTO - As thousands of parents pulled their children from school for a week in protest of Ontario������Ƶapp sex-ed curriculum, it seems the majority taking part are from the province������Ƶapp public schools.

“Are you an engineer?” I ask, pointing to the slim, shiny ring on his pinky finger.

“No,” he replies. “This is my promise ring.”

Demanding that parents be properly consulted, an estimated 2,500 people held loud protests in Toronto and London April 14 against Ontario's new sex-ed curriculum.

The release last month of the Ontario government������Ƶapp revised physical education and health curriculum is an opportunity for Catholic schools to again demonstrate an approach that is both distinctive from but supportive of secular goals.  

OTTAWA - Ontario Catholic authorities believe Catholic teaching is protected in the province������Ƶapp new sex education curriculum, though pro-family groups don’t share in that optimism.
