Bishops not planning pastoral guidelines on assisted suicide

Unlike the bishops of Alberta and Northwest Territories, the Canadian bishops’ conference has no immediate plans to issue pastoral guidelines for sacraments for those who choose assisted suicide.

OTTAWA – CanadaöÏÓãÊÓƵapp Catholic bishops are unlikely to issue national pastoral guidelines on how to accompany Catholics considering euthanasia, the bishops’ conference president said.

Alberta, NWT bishops reaffirm no Communion for divorced

Bishops from Alberta and the Northwest Territories have affirmed Church teaching on Communion for divorced and civilly remarried.

OTTAWA – Pastoral guidelines issued by the bishops of Alberta and Northwest Territories have affirmed Church teaching that precludes divorced and remarried Catholics from receiving Communion unless their previous marriage has been formally annulled.
