The Interfaith Social Assistance Reform Coalition is telling OntarioöÏÓãÊÓƵapp Liberal government what it didn’t want to hear from economist Don Drummond — raise taxes.

The McGuinty government mandated the Drummond Commission to come up with ways to balance the provinceöÏÓãÊÓƵapp books but forbade the former bank economist from considering more taxes. ISARC makes no bones about urging action on the revenue side of the equation.

TORONTO - Full-day kindergarten may be off limits to the Drummond chainsaw, but OntarioöÏÓãÊÓƵapp Catholic schools are still bracing for a lean season.

The Drummond Commission On the Reform of OntarioöÏÓãÊÓƵapp Public öÏÓãÊÓƵapp was commissioned by Premier Dalton McGuinty and released Feb. 15. In it, TD Bank chief economist Don Drummond recommends dozens of cuts to education funding. ThatöÏÓãÊÓƵapp never good news for Catholic schools, said Paul Whitehead, Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association senior policy advisor for finance. Less money means less flexibility for school boards.
