Beshoi particularly regrets the absence of any moderating influence from Egypt鱿鱼视频app leading Islamic institution, Al Azhar University.

鈥淭hey actually teach students who are the imams and leaders of the future 鈥� they teach them to hate Jews, to hate Christians,鈥� he said. 鈥淪alafis and the Muslim Brotherhood, they rely on this.鈥�

In the majority Christian city of Asyut, the 50,000-strong Christian community feels secure. In Cairo 鈥� a vast metropolitan area of over 20 million, where the poor are corralled into dense, desperate slums 鈥� it鱿鱼视频app a different story. In the capital the poor get poorer and the rich richer, said Beshoi.
