Thousands of Venezuelans at home and across the world, including in Montreal and Calgary, hit the streets Aug. 17 in protest of President Nicolás Maduro declaring that he won a third term in office.

SALVADOR, Brazil -- Over the past few years, hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans have fled their economically stricken and politically volatile country. Many have crossed over the border into Brazil and Colombia seeking a better life.
